T-minus Eleven weeks

Things are not looking great for Obama. This is generally the closest map we've seen since we started checking up each week. This has not been a very kind month for the campaign, but once Convention/Debate season starts- and it's really right around the corner- then we'll have a clearer picture of, is this a slump or a serious downturn.

It's a slump.

Perhaps people are finally seeing Obama for what he is: an empty head with nothing to offer but empty rhetoric.

After all, we CAN end our dependence on foreign oil by over-inflating our tires!

"Hey honey, look how much gas we're saving by pumping our tires!"

GA-THUNK.

"Oh my god! The tire burst!"

GA-THUNKA-THUNKA

"I'm losing control of the car!"

"FUUUCCK!!"

"I love you, dear! Damn you, Obama, you son of a bitch!!!!!"

The American Automobile Association and even John McCain (eventually) agreed that properly inflated tires are important for gas mileage. Also, Obama never said that was the only thing we had to do to decrease dependence on foreign oil. Also, Obama never suggested that we inflate our tires so much that we die. And, for republicans who still don't trust that this is good advice, even Nascar has sided with Obama on this issue.

Of course inflating one's tires isn't Obama's only energy plan. What was absurd was Obama's statement that if everyone inflated their tires they could save just as much oil as offshore drilling (which, by the way, is currently illegal anyway). He may be articulate, but you'd think he could at least get his facts straight. I suppose he "exaggerated" just like Bush exaggerated the existence of WMDs in Iraq. We've had one president fucking up statements for the past eight years. We don't need another one.

What many Obama supporters don't get is that Obama is a very traditional politician. He's another Robert Kennedy, offering slogans and posters and chants and little more. He's not a Democrat or a populist or a centrist, he's a "whateverist," as in he'll be whatever a particular group or lobby wants him to be. His altered position on the FISA bill and his general hawkishness prove this. He's nothing different, he's nothing interesting, he's a mirage and a phony.
